MGM did go after New Line for "The Spy Who Shagged Me."  MGM dropped their
opposition when New Line agreed to run previews for MGM movies with Austin
Powers 2.

Since one of the main characters in Austin Powers 3 is "Goldmember" - there
is no chance for them to change the movie.  It is likely that MGM only wants
some more previews.
