The purpose of this site is to generate a multi-faceted, interactive dialogue about the Opium War as a model for demonstrating the educational potential of the Internet. Many issues raised by the film, including commerce/trade, history, and politics, are fascinating and surprisingly relevant in a modern context. (See, for example, the questions designed for the upcoming conference.)
