Film Screening: Thursday, March 5, 1998
Discussions: Friday, March 6, 1998 (Ames Courtroom, Austin Hall, Harvard Law School)
  • 9:30-11:30am: Implications of the Opium War: a study of the, historical, cultural, political and commerce-related issues raised by the film
  • 1:00- 3:00pm: Connecting the Chinese and American Societies Digitally: China and the Internet

The March 6 discussions noted above centered on a set of
questions built to stimulate dialogue on the the Opium War film and related issues pertaining to China's interaction, both present and future, with the Internet. Our online discussion board (or "wwwboard") offers a virtual forum as a supplement to this real-life dialogue. Though the conference itself has passed, please use the wwwboard to discuss possible answers to those questions. (The discussion board is "threaded," allowing multiple discussions to take place simultaneously: several of the questions have already been posted to the wwwboard.)
