I'm the architect and ex-project leader of an XML-based faculty information system at the University of the West of England, Bristol. The application has been developed over 5 years, is written in XQuery and XSLT and runs on the eXist native XML platform. It includes both module (aka 'course') syllabus documents (versioned) and also module run documents which describe a specific delivery of a module. Courses (aka 'programme'), staff, organisation structures, resources are all described in XML documents. There is also a project to provided an RDF representation for cross-faculty integration.

I retired from full-time teaching this year but retain an interest in this area. I'm currently cruising in our yacht for the summer but will be back and keen to be more involved in the project in October.
