Are the platforms finally growing up?

The role of Facebook, YouTube and Co. can increasingly be described as a designer of societies. For a long time, the platforms have dismissed this responsibility and seen themselves as mere entertainment platforms. But new changes are coming, as YouTube announces tweaks to their algorithm to de-emphasize misinformation and conspiracy theory content.

"YouTube should understand that... this common idea of ​​'we just keep on recommending more videos' leads users to quickly land in conspiracy theories," says BKC Affiliate Jonas Kaiser. "I wish they understood that algorithms just have to work differently."
