Mapping the Persian and Arabic blogospheres

Mapping the Persian and Arabic blogospheres

The Berkman Center for Internet & Society is pleased to announce updated and forthcoming, new research from the Internet & Democracy project on blogging in Iran and on Arabic language blogs, respectively.

1.
First, the extensive study of the Persian blogosphere which the project released last year, Mapping Iran’s Online Public, has been supplemented by an interactive interface for exploring an updated blogosphere map. This updated map includes translations of a small sampling of representative blog posts and provides a handy visual companion to the study. Links:

2.
On June 17, at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) in Washington, DC, the Internet & Democracy project will present new research on the Arabic blogosphere: mapping and analysis of over 10,000 blogs from 18 countries. The Arabic blogosphere findings will be discussed -- along with President Obama’s Cairo speech, and more -- by an exceptional panel of speakers, with the online participation of bloggers from the Middle East. The event is public and will be webcast live.

Full details, including RSVP for the event/webcast, at: http://blogsbullets.eventbrite.com/

We hope that you will explore the updated Persian blogosphere map and join the June 17 discussion at USIP, in person or remotely.
