We're looking to build an open source web community platform with an innovative reputation and rating system. Some of our initial ideas are incorporated in BadwareBusters.org, the newly launched community site from Consumer Reports WebWatch and the Berkman Center's StopBadware.org.

Possible features of the platform include:

  • User reputation based on value of contributions to the community
  • Weighted voting/influence based on user reputation
  • Integrated visual design elements that seamlessly highlight top-rated content
  • Community self-moderation of content
  • Collaborative content editing with influence/permissions based on user reputation
