The Berkman Center Commons is a collection of creative work made available by its creators -- all people associated with the Berkman Center for Internet & Society. These works may be licensed over the Internet for use on open, generous terms by the public through Creative Commons licenses. The first two pieces of Berkman Center Commons works on this new site are a highly acclaimed documentary video program by Eric Saltzman that has been used widely in legal education and a video of a lecture by Jonathan Zittrain on the origin of the Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers. Both Zittrain and Saltzman were executive directors of the Berkman Center, and they are pleased to offer the first two of many works that we anticipate publishing for your use under Creative Commons licenses.

The Berkman Center uses Creative Commons licenses only for selected content. Creative Commons licenses allow creators to let the public copy and distribute their work, but only on certain conditions, while retaining their copyright. Not all works can be copied freely for all purposes. To find out exactly what permissions are available or to take advantage of a CC license to a work on this site, click on the CC license logo on each page.
