I just got though read through the bill. It's improved a bit over the first 
version (SSSCA). At least he's recognizing existing Copyright doctrines and 
people rights to do some copying. But DRM requirments in virtually all digital 
equipment is still there.

When I read one section of the bill, my first thought was that I got 
transported to a parallel universe.

And there is a most particular passage in the bill. I's in cbdtpa-09.jpg

15     2) any software portion of such standards is

    based on open source code

Blink, Blink. WTF? "Is that a joke? April first isn't for a couple of weeks 
yet."

Source code will be open? I'm still scratching my head on that one. Is that a 
bone for the Open Source world? Do they really know what they realize what 
that will result in?
